In my opinion the cause of this project is the best part. Helping the marine life with the money they earn and making the trip the most eco friendly they can.

  I checked off an item from my my bucket list, which was meeting the Irrawaddy dolphins. I contacted WCS, the living Irrawaddy dolphin project. First, we headed to Sinkyun Village... read more along the Irrawaddy river. Around 10am, we found 3 or 4 dolphins in the Tha Phan Nout area. So, we followed them with a skillful fisherman(U Mg Lay).

He has been collaborating with dolphins for fishing since 1984. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a chance to see them again at that time, even though we spent 2 1/2 hours in the river.

After that, we studied the villager’s life at Sin Kyun Village. Around 4pm, we planned to head back to our hotel when something happened. A huge group of dolphins were playing near our boat. That was the most breathtaking view I have ever seen. More than 15 dolphins were swimming, fishing, and splitting the water. Never have I ever had that kind of moment in my life. I really appreciate everyone, especially our tour guide— Ko Nyein, a fishermen leader— U Mg lay, the gracious Sin Kyun villagers, and so on.

After about an hour we saw our first group of dolphins, then further up the river we saw another group. The fishermen came from their village to meet us and we were fortunate enough to see the dolphins co-operating with them to fish. This was a wonderful, once in a lifetime opportunity. We had a tasty local lunch on the boat.
On the way back we stopped at a local village where we were greeted with snacks and drinks. Then the local ladies showed us bamboo hat making and for me how to balance a large pot on my head. Then they showed both my husband and myself how to where a longyi. They were so friendly and welcoming, it was lovely.
The day was wonderful, informative (although not over the top), relaxing and we were so lucky to see the dolphins. Please do this trip rather than any others which are just commercial, this group are really trying to protect the dolphins.

There were very few tourists, in the villages we were the only ones. At night we stayed on a beach that we had to ourselves in very comfortable beds and everything was thought of throughout the way.
Our guide Chit was very pleasant and had well knowledge about everything we saw. Do yourselves a favor and go on the 2 day trip. You won’t regret the amazing experience. Big appropriation to the boat crew which was also wonderful and comfortable, we even had beds inside the boat for resting throughout the sail. Wish we could do it again, maybe in the future.

  We weren't to sure about this tour as it was a part of our pre organised package. From the minute we stepped on the boat, we got great surprises. We... read more were lucky enough to have heaps of dolphin sighting throughout the trip. The village visits were fantastic, interesting and hands-on and didn't feel forced. The tour used local vllage people for catering and shared the love among several villages. The food was some of the best we have had in Myanmar. All the staff were amazing, helpful and knowledgeable. Our daughters 3 and 5 were catered for and the guide won their hearts. The tent accommodation was more confortable then some hotels we had stayed in. Overall we really loved how we were able to support several local villages and dolphin conservation. We got the surprise of so many dolphins, so much culture and historical sites. A really fantastic way to experience this part of Myanmar.
